Affirmation to Self-Help I have the power to make the right choices for me.

I have the power to make the right choices for me.

A nurse two years in turns down a promotion to management, and everyone at the desk decides she has lost her mind. She knows something they don't: the extra money buys a version of the job she would hate by March.

Everyone advising you works from half a file. They see the salary, not the commute. The wedding, not the kitchen.

Which makes this less about willpower than about information. Knowing what you actually want, in enough detail to notice when an option contradicts it, is the rare part. The choosing gets easy once the criteria are honest.
