Letting go sounds like deletion, and nothing has ever worked that way.
What actually happens is quieter. You stop feeding something. The grudge is technically still in the archive, but you notice one morning that you haven't rehearsed the argument in weeks, and you cannot remember the last time you checked whether they had posted anything.
Nothing was released. Attention went elsewhere and did not come back. That is the whole of it, and it is far less dramatic and far more available than it sounds from the outside.
