Most people have about two hours a day in which they are genuinely sharp, and most people spend them clearing email because email sits on top.
Nothing about that is laziness. The good hours arrive early, before the day has declared itself, and email will let you feel useful without asking anything of you.
Try defending them once this week. Give the first hour to the thing that is actually difficult and let the inbox wait until eleven. The difference will not be in the effort. It will be in which part of you was awake for it.
