Taking a feeling seriously and solving it are different jobs, and most of us reach for the second because it is quicker.
Someone comes home flattened by a colleague's remark. The useful response is rarely a plan. It is staying in it long enough to say, that sounds genuinely horrible, and meaning the sentence.
The plan can come later if it is wanted. Seriousness is measured mostly in how long you are willing to sit with something you cannot fix. A minute past the point of comfort is usually the whole difference.
