Nobody actually welcomes it. The first response to criticism is heat in the face and a rebuttal forming before the sentence has finished. That's involuntary, and it doesn't make you fragile.

What's trainable is the twenty-four hours afterward. The comment that stung on Monday is often the most useful thing anyone said to you that month, once the defensiveness has drained off and only the content is left.

So the practice isn't feeling grateful in the moment. It's not throwing the feedback away while you're still hot.

Write down the last critical thing someone told you. Read it again tomorrow, when it's cheaper to hear.
