The boiler comes on at six and nobody in the house thanks it. It gets discussed once a year, in January, on the morning it stops.
Most of what keeps a person going has that shape — invisible while it works, named only when it fails, which makes ordinary functioning strangely hard to notice on purpose. Abundance here doesn't mean a surplus of anything, only that the ordinary thing continued: you woke, you were hungry, something in you was already at work before you were.
