Both of these are mainly noticed as absences, which makes them awkward to enjoy while they are running.

A back that lifted a full basket this morning without comment. A car that started first time in January. Money that stayed roughly where you left it. None of that generates any news, and a great deal of both is luck — the household, the genes, the year the industry happened to be hiring. Saying so isn't fatalism. It makes it easier to notice what is currently working, and considerably gentler about whatever isn't.
