A chapter is not a title. What happened to you is in the book. It doesn't have to go on the cover, and it doesn't get to introduce you at parties.
The trouble is that other people are terrible at this. They will bring it up first for years, kindly, because it is the largest thing they know about you. You may have to keep steering the conversation elsewhere, and you are allowed to.
What you have been through is part of the material. Who you are is what you have been doing with it, which is a much longer piece of writing.
