Notice what the metaphor smuggles in: gear. Nobody climbs a mountain by walking at it. They spend months collecting ropes and lessons and a partner who has done it before. The gear stage is unglamorous, and it is where most attempts actually fail — not on the wall, but in the not-bothering to learn what the wall requires.

What is the equipment for the thing in front of you? Money, a skill, an hour a week with someone who has done it, information you have been guessing at.
