Affirmation to Hard Times When I have done all I know how to do, I choose to let my mind rest.

When I have done all I know how to do, I choose to let my mind rest.

There's a point in any difficult thing where more thinking stops improving the outcome. The application has gone in. The scan has been taken. The conversation has been had, in whatever words were available at the time.

After that the mind keeps working anyway, because it can't tell the difference between a problem and a problem it no longer has access to. Handing something in is a physical act with no mental equivalent, which is why people invent one: a walk, a note put in a drawer, saying out loud that it's out of your hands. Crude, and it works more often than it ought to.
