Nobody has ever watched a hedge grow. You look at it in April and it's a hedge. You look in August and it needs cutting. At no point in between was there anything to see.

Daily resolution is the wrong instrument for most increases. Savings, skills, reputation and interest all move at a rate invisible at twenty-four-hour intervals, which is why the honest report on any given day is that nothing happened. Check in seasons and the picture is completely different.
