I accept failure.

The presentation went badly. Slides in the wrong order, a question answered poorly, a long walk back to the desk. By Thursday nobody had mentioned it, and by the following week the only person still running the footage was the one who had given it.

Rehearsed failure is enormous and cinematic. Actual failure is usually smaller, duller, and absorbed with startling speed by a world that has its own presentations to worry about.

Accepting it is not resignation. It is noticing that the thing you have been paying so much to prevent costs less than the prevention does.
