In a lot of houses there's a chair with a leg that's been glued, doweled, or replaced outright. Nobody thinks less of it. It holds a person up, which is the entire job description of a chair.
Wholeness gets confused with never having been broken. On that definition almost nobody qualifies past thirty, and the few who do have mostly just avoided things. The other reading, complete, all of a piece, working as one thing, survives the repair. It might even require it. Strength that's never been tested is only a theory about strength. Yours has receipts.
