Changing your mind is cheap in private and expensive in public. That asymmetry explains most stubbornness you'll ever meet, including your own.

Someone argues a position at dinner, hard. On the drive home they realise the other person was right. The information arrived perfectly well — the problem is that admitting it now means reopening the whole dinner.

The workaround is small: give yourself permission to update without announcing it. You owe nobody a retraction ceremony. Just quietly hold the better version from here on. Most intellectual honesty happens exactly this way, unwitnessed, and it counts the same.
