Trace back the last good thing that arrived and it probably came by an odd route. A job through someone you met once at a wedding. A flat because a colleague's cousin was moving out. A friendship that began because you both turned up early to something dull.
None of that could have been planned. Plans cover the last mile of a good thing; the first mile is usually someone else's accident, arriving from a direction you weren't watching.
Which makes availability the practical half of this. Answering. Showing up. Staying in touch with people you have no use for, going to the thing you could reasonably skip. The far corners of the world can only reach you if a way in exists, and most of the work is keeping one open.
