Scrapyards are staffed by people who look at a write-off and see a working gearbox, two good doors, and an alternator worth more than the rest of it put together.
Seeking the best isn't the same as calling the crash lucky. It's a practical habit with a practical question at the centre of it: given this, what is still usable? What did I learn, who showed up, what can be carried out of here? Some situations yield very little, and even then the question earns its keep, because the alternative is walking away from the whole vehicle.
