Whatever you're like in February, you are broadly like on holiday. The scenery changes and the internal weather travels in the hand luggage. Anyone who has been miserable somewhere beautiful worked this out years ago. Which is the frustrating half and also the freeing half: if the good stuff lived entirely in the location, you would need the location. It doesn't, so you don't.
Outside things still matter enormously — money, health, who you live with, whether anyone is kind to you. But the part that decides what an ordinary Tuesday feels like has been with you the whole time.
