There is no obligation to hold this view today. Choosing how to see something is a job that can be done later, and it is usually done better with distance — nobody writes a good account of a fire while standing in it.

What can be done now is smaller: keeping some record, staying in contact with one or two people, not deciding anything permanent about yourself. Those are the conditions under which the useful view becomes available later. The meaning can wait. It has always been willing to.
