Gratitude after an illness rarely points where people expect it to. Ask someone what they are thankful for and they don't say the disease. They say the receptionist who found them an earlier slot, or the friend who sat through four hours of infusion without once checking her phone.
Whatever gets learned in that stretch is usually learned about other people. That is not a small return. It just isn't the one the pamphlets advertise.
Thank something specific today. A person, a drug, a machine that hummed steadily while you lay still and waited for it to finish.
