Receiving is genuinely harder than giving for a lot of people. Watch what happens when someone offers help — the reflex is to deflect, insist it's fine, keep the ledger level.
That reflex looks like humility and often isn't. It's control. Accepting something puts you in a person's debt, and debt means depending on them.
But being helped is how closeness actually forms. The friends you're nearest to are usually the ones who've seen you need something.
Next time help is offered, take it. Say yes, and don't immediately offer anything back.
