Unconditional gets set impossibly high — a love with no requirements whatsoever, immune to any behaviour, permanent regardless.

Set the bar there and almost nothing on earth qualifies.

Lower it slightly and the real thing turns out to appear already, in doses. A grandparent who never once made you audition. A dog who cannot be persuaded you're a disappointment. A friend who has seen you at your least defensible and stayed on the phone.

Months is a reasonable timeframe for more of it, mostly because it arrives through people, and people arrive through being met. Say yes to something in the calendar.
