Starting is easy. Most people are good at the first fortnight of anything.
Continuing looks different: the fourth month of the same small practice. Asking how the meeting went when you already half know the answer. Going to bed at the same time instead of drifting apart across the evening. Apologising properly again, having done it well last week.
None of it feels like progress while it is happening. It shows up years later, in the unremarkable fact that you are both still here and still talking to each other.
