Financial dreams are almost never numbers. Ask anyone what the figure is and they hesitate.
Ask what it is for and it comes instantly, and it is always a scene. A spare room. A car that starts. Being able to say yes to a wedding in another country without three weeks of quiet dread about the flights.
The figure is only ever a proxy for the scene, which is worth knowing, because the scenes cost wildly different amounts and some of them are considerably nearer than assumed.
Naming it does not make it arrive. It does turn it into something you could aim at, rather than a weight with no shape.
