You rise like the sun out of the darkness.

Sunrise takes about forty minutes and almost nobody watches the part that matters. The sky is already grey and workable long before there is anything to point at. By the time the sun clears the roofline the work is basically done.

Rising, in a person, runs on much the same schedule. There is no moment.

There is a Tuesday when you notice you slept, and another one three weeks later when a song in the car is bearable again.

Waiting for the visible part before you believe it means missing the forty minutes that did the actual lifting.
