My career is advancing, which fills me with joy.

Advancement gets pictured vertically, which suits organisations with a lot of rungs and describes almost nobody's actual path. Most careers move sideways, widen, stall for two years, then shift three steps at once for reasons nobody could have planned.

There is also the kind that does not move at all on paper while the person doing it becomes markedly better at it. A tenth year is not a first year repeated ten times.
